Ministry Team Descriptions

Bridge Building Team

We build bridges from our faith community to those who don’t have a relationship with Christ.
  • Begin every meeting with prayer
  • Teach congregation how to share their faith through instruction, example, and experience.
  • Seek and create opportunities to meet people in the community to demonstrate service evangelism
  • Develop activities that allow our community to interface with the outside community by inviting them to participate in non-threatening activities
  • Offer instruction to seekers (Alpha Course / Tueday Night Temptation)
  • Seek the Holy Spirit to guide us on who to seek out (investigating, understanding, and exploring the demographics of our community; brainstorming ways to reach out to those individuals or groups)
  • Personally interact with MPC neighborhood to increase awareness and invite them to activities
  • Seek additional people to serve on this team
  • Enjoy the fellowship of the Bridge Building Team by having fun
  • Encourage members to use our facility for non-church related events
  • Seek ways to partner with other MPC teams to maximize our resources and talents
  • Use multimedia to inform MPC members and the community of events and ways to get them involved
  • Develop awareness of new individuals attending services and activities and help to connect them with support and opportunities within MPC.
  • Support and encourage others in seminars that relate to evangelism or new church development
  • Explore ways to be more effective at utilizing our resources within the team, the church, and the community

  • Attempt to contact CAREA members who have not been attending worship regularly
  • Call new people to welcome them to the church and CAREA

Charitable Gifts Committee

The Charitable Gifts Committee (CGC) was formed in response to anticipated needs for the new church building and programs, not covered by the building budget or the ministry budget. The committee prepared a gift acceptance policy document which was approved by Session and which is available to anyone interested in donating a gift of any kind to MPC. Monetary gifts may be designated for specific projects or may be undesignated, to be held for future needs.
The committee also compiled a wish list, known as The Extra Mile, which has been made available to the congregation. As gift offers are made, the committee checks for duplication and appropriateness, receives the gift, and thanks the donor. The Extra Mile list has been revised periodically as gifts have been received and as new needs have been determined. CGC has prepared a Book of Recognition which is on display in the church and which “will be kept as a permanent record for any gift given to MPC, recognizing a person being memorialized or honored.”
  • Encourage sacrificial giving to God and the ministry of the church
  • Provide a systematic and legal process for the giving of gifts to the church
  • Recognize in an appropriate way the generosity of those who make memorial gifts
  • Maintain secrecy for donors who wish to remain anonymous
  • Prioritize the needs of the church and make suggestions to prospective donors
  • Make a careful accounting of all memorial gifts given to the ministry of the church
  • Decide upon the appropriateness of gift offers made to the church
  • Provide a way for families to establish an appropriate remembrance for their loved ones that also benefits the ministry of the church
  • Stress that gifts made to the church are for the glory of God and are made to enhance the ministry of the church, not the glorification of the giver.

Christian Education

Knowing God is a worthy goal for every Christian. The Christian Education Team facilitates this by providing a number of classes and activities centered around the Bible and our Christian faith. Christian education classes for all ages are held every Sunday following worship. In addition, classes are held as part of the Tuesday Night Temptation program. It is our goal to increase our Missions budget to 25% of our Ministry Fund. Through “Minutes for Missions” and articles in Monument Views, we seek to keep the congregation informed of the good work our mission dollars are doing. The Missions Team is also seeking ways to provide the congregation with opportunities to be personally involved in mission projects in our community as well as overseas.

SATAMBSANDP - (Saturday AM Bible Study and Philosophy Group)

We are a men’s Bible study group that meets every Saturday AM starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 9:00 AM. We begin by reading a designated chapter from the Bible, comparing several different versions. The “Philosophy” starts when we begin “taking the verses apart” and relating the biblical account to present day life. Often we get so involved in the discussion that we do not get through the entire designated reading. Following the Bible study, we share – on a confidential basis – what is going on in our personal lives. We always close with prayer.
  • Our discussions help us to know Jesus Christ as Savior
  • We try to follow Jesus as our Lord and Savior
  • We reach out to others by bringing in new people to our group on an occasional basis
  • We close every meeting with prayer

Tables of 6+2

Tables of 6+2 becomes Tables of 8. Three couples are assigned to a table and each couple acts as Host – once each – over a period of 4 months. The host couple always invites a fourth couple to make the full table. The fourth couple may be a completely non-church couple or a church couple who is on the substitute list. Every effort is made to assure that each time tables are assigned, you get to meet with couples whom you have not been with before. Thus far we have been 99+% successful at accomplishing this goal!

It is our goal to create worship that is a joyful celebration of God’s love and which invites people to enjoy and respond to the presence of the living God. We desire our worship experiences to be welcoming of new people who may be unfamiliar with “church” or worship.
The Worship Planning Team meets monthly to help design and implement the Sunday morning worship experience. The team assists in suggesting worship themes and relevant Scripture texts and explores ways to help communicate the message through the use of skits and multi-media presentations such as movie clips.
